2nd degree Black Belt, Douglas Walrath is the husband of Shelly Walrath, and an instructor at New Vision Martial Arts. Given that he used to compete on the wrestling team as a high school student and having made the international kickboxing team for the World Championships with Shelly, he knows a good bit about martial arts and teaching is but one of his numerous skills. Junior Instructors
One of the skills taught at New Vision Martial Arts is leadership, and what better way to learn how to be a leader than by teaching? As students become experienced and begin to take initiative, Shelly may delegate them as assistant instructors, teaching them the values of patience, discipline, and confidence. Our assistant instructors Madison Walrath (15), Christian Wilson (14), Sydney Walrath (12), and Iain Snoddy (9) learn and grow as they help others learn and grow, and that is what makes teaching an important part of the martial arts experience. |
